My pal Jimbo is still crying because the Canucks lost in the second round of the playoffs. I admit, that was one round further than I thought they'd get (see April 15). Of course it's also further than Calgary got, and obviously further than Edmonton, Toronto or Montreal, none of whom made the playoffs.
What's important now is for everyone to rally around Canada's team, the Ottawa Senators. Tonight Alfie did it again, scoring the only goal of the game to put the Sens up three games to none against Buffalo. One more win in this round and the Sens are off the the Final. (I know... don't get ahead of yourself there little brown dog...)
But the way the Senators are playing, it's hard not to get excited. Their PK is amazing and they are getting timely goals from the big guys, and timely goaltending from Emery. I am a little jealous of one of my people too... Turns out Michael is going to the game on Wednesday night. Maybe he'll take his broom to help sweep the Sabres back to Buffalo.
If they play on Wednesday like they played tonight, or like they played after the first period Saturday night, there should be no problems. The only way Buffalo gets back in this series now is if Ottawa takes their foot off the gas a bit now. They can't afford to do that though. Buffalo can't be shown they have any opportunity to win because they could easily feed on that. One win could very well turn into two. As Steve from The Team said this morning... it's time to rip one of those Sabres right from the Buffalo logo and stab them in the heart with it.
