Minus 20 Celsius seems to be the magic number. When it gets colder than that, my feet seem to freeze outside really quickly. Usually in about a minute or a minute and a half. If it's a little warmer, of course my feet will freeze too, but it'll take a little longer. If it's even colder, they'll freeze even faster. If it's -30 or colder, often I'll need more than one trip outside to handle all my bidness.
"So Radar", you might be thinking, "why don't you wear boots?"
Well, dear reader, I don't like boots. I don't like anything touching my feet. Especially my front feet. And that includes boots, nail clippers and even human hands. I'll tolerate the old shake-a-paw routine if it earns me a cookie, but otherwise, I do NOT like anything touching my paws. If I'm forced to wear boots outside I will spend all my time concentrating on getting the boots off and I won't even go to the bathroom.
I will wear a coat however. I have three coats. Of course my favourite coat is the one Grandma made me. It's soft and blue and I've lost some weight so it fits me again. I wore it this weekend, and one of the Velcro straps came undone and I accidentally peed on it. Oops! I also have a bright yellow rain coat and I have a brown corduroy coat from Old Navy. It doesn't fit so well.
All in all, I like heat a lot more than cold. I like to lie by the fire as much as possible and I also like having my kennel on a heating pad. I've also discovered that the vents shoot out hot air which feels good. And if given the chance, I will burrow under the covers in my people's bed.
It's been colder than my freezing-foot threshold lately, so I'm about ready for this warm spell we're supposed to be having soon.
