Busy Weekend

My people left my gate down for the last two days in a row. I think I must be trained because I didn't go upstairs at all. Maybe it's because I was good, but I got to go in the car today. We went to get gas. It was fun.
Speaking of fun... Michael just got back from his trip to the old country. He said it was fun and he got to see Bandit and Cleo (but not Patty) and all their people. He saw some old friends from his old work too. He said someone named Helen was superexcited. He also saw the Isotopes but he didn't say too much about how they played. He also saw Nelly Furtado. And Stockwell Day at one airport and Elliotte Friedman at the other. He says the Lions won. I don't like "cat" teams. He also said he won the football pool this week... whatever that means

Vivian says I should write about the exemplary care she provided for me while Michael was gone. Fact: she gave me pills. Fact: She let me sleep on the bed. Fact: She turned on the fireplace for me every day. Fact: She gave me lots of cookies. Sounds like exemplary care to me.

Christmas is coming!

Sometimes my people try to fool me by getting all excited and saying "Christmas is coming!". So I'm supposed to think Christmas is a person and get excited myself and bark and look out the window. I do get a little excited but it's mostly for show. Just like when I sing along with the singing snowman and dog... my people really seem to get a kick out of it. We have it on video, but I haven't figured out how to post a video on here yet.

Anyway... Christmas is coming. That much is true. I know because I helped wrap some presents today. They were for Cleo and Patty. I got them some really nice looking cookies. Mmmmm! But ssshhh... don't tell them. I want them to be surprised when they open them. Michael is taking the presents to them tomorrow.

I wonder if I'll get any presents this year... I've been pretty good. Except for sometimes when I bark too much. And when I ripped up the carpet in the hotel when we were living there. Oh, and when I pooped in the hotel. And the house. And when I tried to eat the dog next door at our old house. But other than that...

Never mind.

My Pals

These are my friends Cleo and Bandit. Bandit is my best friend in the whole world and I miss her.
I don't have a picture of Patty.

:(

Freedom

Because of my herniated disc, I'm currently not allowed to go up and down stairs unless I'm carried... usually in my kennel. So normally my people leave a baby gate at the bottom of the staircase so I can't go upstairs while they're at work.

(Aside: Not that the baby gate really could stop me from going upstairs if I really wanted to. First, it's just resting there, so I could easily knock it over and go upstairs. Second, it's not like I haven't eaten my way through a baby gate before. When I was a puppy, I chewed through just enough pieces of a gate to allow my skinny little body to sneak through. That was when they decided to put up the big heavy metal gate. Couldn't get through that one. Here's what it looked like in our old house. Despite all my rage, I was still just a dog in a cage.)

Anyway... they didn't put the gate up at all today, so I was free to roam the house all day. I could have slept on 4 different beds if I wanted to. I won't say what I actually did because I know who reads this blog and I don't want to incriminate myself.

I did show my people that I'm feeling better by jumping off the bed tonight right in front of them. It hurt a bit, but I'm fine.

Besides... tomorrow's pill day.

Houses

This top one is a picture of our new house. This picture was taken when it was sunny, which is basically never.

The picture at the bottom is of our old house... or at least in the backyard of our old house. Check out the beer barge! Those were the days... I still think my people could have made lots of money with that invention.

Pill Day!

Today was pill day. It makes me feel good.

The Big Fall

It wasn't funny. I was in the middle of peeing after all. Michael fell down the stairs this morning when we went outside. It was dark and raining and he slipped on the top step and fell down to the bottom. He hurt his hands and his arm. He also interrupted me when I was peeing, which was very uncomfortable for me. I'm not 100% sure, but I think he may have been looking at his BlackBerry at the time of the fall. He's OK now, but has some cuts and bruises.

Michael is also going back to the old country this weekend. He is for sure now going to the Grey Cup. Something about the Isotopes too. I don't know what that means. Vivian is not happy because he's going and she's not. But she wouldn't really want to sit outside in the cold for 4 hours anyway. I'd like to go too. Not for football, but to see Grandma and Grandpa and Rhianna and Rebecca and Cathy and Sharon and John and Todd and my pals Bandit, Patty and Cleo.

Grandma's Phone Call

Grandma phoned tonight. As usual, I wasn't allowed to talk to her, but I know they were talking about me. I heard lots of talk about jumping and medications and stuff. I wonder when Grandma's coming back to visit... It was fun when she was here. I know she's back home taking care of Bandit now. I also know Bandit's a little sick, so she needs Grandma. I'm a little sick too, but I'm tough.

Check out this picture of me and Grandma. Those were the days.

Bombers Lose!

I have to admit I slept through part of the game. And yes, I barked at Murphy during part of the game. But the parts I did watch, it seems like the Toronto Argonauts deserved to win against our Winnipeg Blue Bombers in today's Eastern semi-final. Not that Winnipeg played poorly... they actually played OK. But Toronto played a bit better and made fewer mistakes. Of course, the Roberts fumble was the killer, and the last interception was the final nail in the coffin... just when we thought maybe they had a chance to come back.

I hear one of my people might still go to the Grey Cup in Winnipeg, even if the Bombers aren't playing. I hope he gets to go.

Picture of me tanning

This is me tanning at my old house. I haven't had much tanning weather in my new house yet. My new house has lots of stairs and slippery floors. And no pool. And a dog behind us.

My back is killing me!

So I've got a herniated disc in my spine. This is what the vet has told me. Twice. My people take me to this vet - a new vet - and she pokes and prods me, flips my feet upside down to test my nervous system, took my temperature... in there. And the verdict? Herniated disc. Both times.

The upside is that I get to take some drugs which help dull the pain. Plus I'm supposed to stay inactive, so now I get carried around a lot. The downside is that it hurts. And I'm not so smart, so when the drugs make me feel better, I start to get more active and I probably do too much jumping around. My people won't even let me have my favourite toy because I do things that might hurt my back.

Anyway, I hope it gets better soon. I can see that the pills in the jar are running low (I don't know what the pills are made of, but my people call them "expensive pills"). I want to be healthy when my Auntie Sharon and Uncle John come to visit soon.
